Hi everyone! I have another pattern I’ll be posting in the next couple days for a headband which has a lot more holes in it. For fashion, of course! However, I wanted one that was a bit more…opaque, so I made this one too. Which may or may not apply here, but such is life. Anyway, enjoy the pattern!
Difficulty: Easy
Materials:
8/6 quality cotton, 50 yds is plenty. I used Hobbii’s rainbow 8/6 cotton, but any cotton yarn will work. The pattern is pretty modifiable if you want a thicker or thinner yarn & a thicker or thinner band accordingly
4mm hook, or one to match your yarn
Stitches to know:
Foundation sc (fsc): insert hook, pull up loop, ch1 in loop, pull through 2 loops on hook (I have instructions for starting this off written into the pattern with some pictures, if this is unhelpful) Treble crochet (tr): yarn over twice, insert hook & pull up loop, pull through two loops on hook, pull through two loops on hook, pull through last two loops on hook. One tr done
Note: chains to begin the rows do not count as stitches
Pattern:
Rnd 1: 50 fsc (to start, ch2, in 2nd chain fsc (pull up loop, ch1 in that loop, then sc as normal) then in ch1 you just made do another fsc. Repeat till you have 60) In the pictures below, the arrow points to the ch1 you created and where you put your hook in to do the next fsc
Rnd 2: Regular sc in that last ch1 you made. Ch1, turn, 2 sc in sc you just made. The arrow in the picture below shows the sc you’ll be doing the 2sc in
Rnd 3: Ch1, turn, 2 sc in each st across (4 sc)
Rnd 4: Ch1, turn, 2 sc, 1 sc x2, 2 sc (6 sc)
Rnd 5: Ch1, turn, 2 sc, 1 sc x4, 2 sc (8 sc)
Rnd 6: Ch1, turn, 2 sc, 1 sc x6, 2 sc (10 sc)
Rnd 7: Ch1, turn, 2 sc, 1 sc x8, 2 sc (12 sc)
*note: you’ve just finished the triangle, from which we’ll stitch in rows across to create the body of the headband. If you want the headband thicker, follow the pattern and make the triangle bigger (for example, the next row would be 2 sc, 1 sc x10, 2 sc, for a total of 14 sc), or vice versa, stop earlier on in the triangle and the headband will be thinner
Rnd 8: Ch3, turn, tr across (12 tr)
Rnds 9-10: Repeat Rnd 8
Rnd 11: Ch1, turn, sc across (12 sc)
Rnds 12-27: repeat Rnds 8-11, you’ll repeat that sequence of 8-11 4 times by the end of 12-27, for a total of 5 sets of the rounds, if that’s an easier way to think of it
Rnd 28: Ch1, turn, sc2tog, sc x8, sc2tog (10 sc)
Rnd 29: Ch1, turn, sc2tog, sc x6, sc2tog (8 sc)
Rnd 30: Ch1, turn, sc2tog, sc x4, sc2tog (6 sc)
Rnd 31: Ch1, turn, sc2tog, sc x2, sc2tog (4 sc)
Rnd 32: Ch1, turn, sc2tog, sc2tog (2 sc)
Rnd 33: Ch1, turn, sc2tog (1 sc)
Rnd 34: Ch1, turn, fsc in sc. The arrows in the pictures show the ch1 and where you’ll be inserting your hook for the next fsc. Repeat for 50 fsc & tie off
You did it!
I hope it keeps your hair out of your way as well as it does mine.
